Las Vegas, Nevada is home to 40 million tourist guests a year, the new home of the Vegas Golden Knights NHL team, the future Las Vegas Raiders NFL team and a new $2 billion domed stadium (presently under construction near the famous Las Vegas Strip). Less than 10 percent of the 2.25 million people who live in the Las Vegas valley are evangelical Christians but that has not held them back from making a dent on world evangelization.
So far in 2018, three different Kairos courses have taken place in three different formats involving about 75 people. Pastor Gregg Seymour (who also just started a new church in the past year!) serves as Head Facilitator in Las Vegas. Gregg lead a team to southeast Asia in 2016-17 and was exposed to the Kairos course in the Philippines. Gregg was so struck by the truth of the course that he committed to lead it when he returned to the States. Several members of that year-long missions team are also now serving as facilitators for Kairos in Vegas.
Along with Gregg is Pastor Bret Johnson, another veteran Vegas Pastor who has also been leading the Perspectives course in Vegas. Pastor Bret sees “lots of legs” on the Kairos course in Vegas. “We are seeing at least 50% of our classes signing up to be facilitators after taking Kairos and the ability going forward to radically multiply the impact of the class,” he stated. Another huge “win” in the Vegas Kairos course is a team of native Spanish speakers who are both bilingual, young and eager to start the Spanish version of Kairos (by 2025, 45% of the Las Vegas valley will be Hispanic). Both Pastor Gregg and Bret hope to have a Pastors and Ministry Leaders only version of Kairos (one week intensive, Monday through Friday) in May of 2019 as a way to draw in high capacity leaders to embrace Kairos and its focus on the fame of Jesus spreading to every people.
